Mr. David Kaiser

My name is Mr. Kaiser and I’m thrilled to be at Hazel Park Preparatory Academy!  I completed my bachelor’s degree at Minnesota State University-Mankato in Instrumental and Classroom Music Education.  I recently completed my master of music in trumpet performance at Western Michigan University in Kalamazoo, MI.  Before coming to HPPA, I’ve taught middle school band and general music in St. Paul’s summer learning program, marching band for 3 years in Waseca, MN and college music courses as a graduate assistant at WMU.  I will be teaching band, music explorations, and world music in the MYP program and I’m excited to fill the middle school with music at Hazel Park!

I’m originally from Eden Prairie, MN.  I started band in 5th grade and didn’t love being a part of it initially but as I progressed through middle school, I began to love music and I found my community in band that carried me on through high school.  In addition to trumpet, I also played guitar and drum set throughout high school and college.  Alongside teaching, I play trumpet professionally around the twin cities in wedding bands, jazz bands, classical groups, and at numerous churches.  I especially have a love for playing and listening to jazz, funk, soul, and fusion music from the 60’s and 70’s.  My favorite part about teaching is guiding students to discovering and cultivating their own interests and passion.
